11 - Donations, A Deep, Personal Belief
i want donations because i want my wealth to be a reflection of the value of my work, not how well i can trick people into perceiving the value of my work.
i want all of my work available, whether people pay for it or not, because only having access to all of it can they decide how valuable it is to them
keeping any aside, only available to those who pay for it (either one time, or as a subscription) to me feels as if the money isn't truly earned. the model feels based off of perceived worth, not true worth. someone can spend the money, then not feel they got, or are getting, what they're paying for it.
i want people who give me money for my work to always feel as if they are paying what they can afford and what they want to pay. if my work has been immeasurably valuable to them, but they don't have money right yet - i want them to still have access to it. even if they never pay me and they make millions thanks to what they learned from me. i still want them to have it, because i love them and want them to succeed.
i want us all to succeed. i want us all to have the power to choose our own reality. to me, to do anything otherwise is to foster fear and lack.
this stems from a commentary on the concept of others charging for information that triggered a deep anger in me. not that these people who charge for information are making money, but anger at the fact that they're charging money while there are so many out there who don't feel they're getting what they paid for. i want people to feel they got what they paid for - i want the value to be more than what's being charged. my easiest way to accomplish that is to give it for free and allow other people to decide whether they fill my pockets with their support.
i think the wealthiest people in the world should be the ones who offer the most value to others. who offer the most benefit to all. i like the idea of a world like that, and i want to be the change i desire in the world. so i offer my information freely.
